2026 SGA CUP PLAYOFFS & FORMAT
At each SGA TOUR event, players in each division will earn points based on their net finish, and a running points list will be maintained throughout the 2026 season.
The top 8 players at the end of the season will earn invitations to compete in the SGA TOUR Match Play “Intense” Event.
Below is an overview of how points will be allocated and how many spots will be available for the championship.
FLIGHTS
Once registration for an SGA TOUR event has closed, SGA TOUR staff will divide players in each division into equal-sized flights based on each player’s Handicap Index as of the tournament entry deadline.
The number of flights will be determined by the number of entrants in each division:
- 5–30 players: 1 flight
- 31–59 players: 2 flights
- 60–79 players: 3 flights
- 80–108 players: 4 flights
- 109+ players: 5 flights
HOW FLIGHTS ARE DETERMINED
A player’s flight is based on their Course Handicap, which is calculated from their Handicap Index using the course’s Par, Slope, and Rating, based on the USGA Rules.
No age or gender is used to determine a player’s flight.
POINTS
Points will be awarded to players in each flight based on their NET FINISH ONLY.
The number of points awarded will be determined by the number of players in each flight. Several Points Schedules have been created and will be applied at each event depending on the number of players in each flight.

Breaking Ties: In the event of a tie between individuals in the gross or net score, or between teams in team Best Ball, the winner will be determined by the following USGA procedure:
USGA RECOMMENDED CARD PLAYOFF PROCEDURE
If a play-off of any type is not feasible, matching scorecards are recommended. The method of matching cards should be announced in advance and should also provide what will happen if this procedure does not produce a winner. An acceptable method of matching the cards is to determine the winner on the basis of the best score for the last nine holes. If the tying players have the same score for the last nine, determine the winner on the basis of the last six holes, the last three holes, and finally the 18th hole. If this method is used in a competition with a multiple tee start, it is recommended that the “last nine holes, last six holes, etc.” is considered to be holes 10-18, 13-18, etc.[…]
Point Schedules: Listed below are the Point Schedules, organized by flight size:
